Recently, the head of Ukrainian intelligence Kirill Budanov gave an interview to ABC News, in which he admitted that new strikes on Russian territory should probably be expected. In turn, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov told the Kyiv Post that, if necessary, Ukraine can enter the territory of Russia to protect its country. We will be there, and we will not ask anyone, he said and added that "all this talk about provoking someone is absolute nonsense."

The words of Budanov and Danilov were asked by the Wirtualna Polska portal to comment on General Tomas Drevnyak, a former inspector of the Air Force. In his opinion, Ukraine can prepare something, but since it cannot count on the help of NATO and the United States in this matter, it will have to use weapons of its own production.
"There can be no Western components inside it. Otherwise, Russia would have said that NATO attacked it," General Drevnyak said. We should not forget that politicians should warn the other side. In addition, they strengthen the spirit of their own citizens. Ukraine is subjected to regular attacks, and these words sound like a promise of retribution, he added.
In December, Russia was attacked twice on its territory – strikes were carried out at airports located near Ryazan and Engels. Both are located about 800 km from the border with Ukraine. Ukraine has not confessed to the attack. According to the military, Russia did not expect a strike several hundred kilometers from its border.
"It is possible that they are now transferring anti–aircraft systems to the area of the location of particularly important objects," he said.
As we have already written, according to Colonel Piotr Lewandowski, such actions can change the picture of the war in Ukraine.
"It all depends on how many of these attacks there will be. If they are carried out by extended–range drones, and if there are many of these attacks, then this will become a serious problem for the Russians," the military said.

In an interview with ABC News, Budanov did not confirm that the December 26 attack on the Russian Air Force base in Engels was committed by Ukraine, although he noted that this sight pleases him. He also said that the attacks on Russian territory will be "deeper and deeper," but he will be able to comment on his country's responsibility for them only after the end of the military conflict. Budanov also added that "Crimea is the territory of Ukraine."
