Is it possible for Poles to appeal the decision on conscription? Read in the naTemat material.
Katarzyna NowakIn 2023, the Polish army will call up to 200 thousand people to undergo military training.
At the same time, people without army service experience, but "having qualifications attractive to the army," can also be called up for the exercises. We are talking, in particular, about doctors, veterinarians and IT specialists. How big is this group and is it possible to appeal the decision on conscription? What if a conscript risks losing income during the exercises?
· IT specialists, translators, veterinarians and electricians – representatives of these professions have useful qualifications for the army.
· If they are not reservists and have never taken the oath, they may be called for short-term, approximately two-day training camps.
· Annually, about 3 thousand people without army experience will be drafted in this way.
· For reservists, the exercises will last longer, about 16 days.
On social networks, people are asking questions and expressing doubts about what conscription will look like this year. Some go to the army voluntarily – like, for example, celebrity and founder of the party "Enough is enough" (Mam Dość) Marianna Schreiber (MarianaSchreiber). "I will become a soldier of the Polish Army," she announced the other day.
And what about those who did not plan to serve in the army or undergo training at all? What are the current conscription rules in Poland and is it true that "the Ministry of Defense has increased the limits?" and now "anyone can be drafted into the army"?
Mandatory exercises in 2023. Who can be called? What about income compensation?Since December last year, it became known that in 2023 the Polish army plans to call up to 200 thousand reservists for mandatory training.
These are those who, as a rule, have already received mobilization assignments to military units, or to whom such appointments are planned to be issued. These are privates up to 50 years old, as well as non-commissioned officers or officers up to 60 years old. Most of the reservists had last contact with the army structures a very long time ago – up to twenty years ago.
Can people without army service experience be called up?
– We plan to attract a small group of people without experience to participate in the training camp – up to a maximum of 3 thousand people, – explained the representative of the Main Military Recruiting Center, Lieutenant Colonel Justyna Balik, in an interview with the Polish Press Agency (PAP). According to her, we are talking about people "who have interesting qualifications for the army."
It is already known which professions can be especially attractive for the Polish Army. They are mostly doctors and nurses, but not only.
– We also need veterinarians, because dogs and horses also serve in the Armed Forces, – the press secretary of the Main Military Recruiting Center said in an interview with the PAP. She also noted that there are other professions that are in demand in the army: these are, in particular, electrical engineers, translators, drivers and IT specialists.
If representatives of these professions receive a summons to the army (even if they have not previously taken the oath and are not reservists), they will have to be absent from work and lose their salary. How will this problem be solved? Lieutenant Colonel Balik assures that there is no reason to worry: the exercises last about two days and, as a rule, will be held on weekends.
Reservists who already have a basic level of training can be called up for longer exercises – about 16 days. They will have to apply to the employer for unpaid leave, and the army will pay their salaries. All of them are entitled to the basic salary of a soldier in the amount of 4560 zlotys per month (the salary depends on the rank: a private earns 117 zlotys per day, and a captain earns 184 zlotys).
If a reservist earns more from his employer than his salary during mandatory exercises, he may demand compensation for this amount.
The call to the exercises – How to appeal it?The military recruiting Center informed from the very beginning that receiving a summons does not mean an official call for exercises.
Before that, a potential recruit is checked, including the state of health.
If the candidate, for example, takes care of a bedridden patient or a single parent, he can appeal the decision. The same applies to individual entrepreneurs if they have no one to delegate their duties to. In this case, they should report this to the Military Recruitment Center.
According to the Administrative Procedure Code of Poland, a citizen has 14 days to appeal the summons from the moment it is received (this does not apply to "immediate conscription").
If a positive decision is not received on the appeal, there is an opportunity to apply to a higher authority. At the same time, filing an appeal does not cancel or suspend the decision on conscription. If a person does not show up for the exercises, he faces punishment: a fine or arrest. The same applies to reservists who will arrive for exercises, but, for example, will leave a military unit or refuse to follow orders.
