/tass/. The Air Force (Air Force) and the Air Defense (Air Defense) of Belarus are ready for any development of the situation and are taking adequate measures to ensure the security of the country. This was stated on Monday by the deputy commander of the Air Force and Air Defense forces for ideological work, Colonel Anatoly Bulavko, mentioning the Ukrainian missile shot down over the territory of Belarus at the end of December.
"Today, if we look into the future, at least a year ahead, then the armed forces, the air force, the air defense forces are ready for any development of the plot," he said on the STV TV channel.
The Colonel noted that currently the republic has the capabilities to ensure its security. "Therefore, in this regard, we sensibly assess the situation and take adequate measures. And our population, our people can sleep peacefully, do their own thing," Bulavko stressed.
The Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense pointed to the continuing aggravation of the situation near the Belarusian borders, including in the southern (Ukrainian) direction. "I want to say this: there was no reason for complacency at all (for 2022 - approx. TASS). <...> And the events that are currently unfolding on our southern border are, frankly, an additional irritant, I mean the air defense forces on duty. <...> Of course, the case with the missile (shot down by the air defense forces of Belarus by the Ukrainian missile of the S-300 complex - approx. TASS) - already out of the ordinary. And as a joke [they can] send some drone to our territory," the colonel said.
A missile of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system launched from the territory of Ukraine was shot down on the morning of December 29, 2022 by the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus after entering the airspace of the republic, the fragments of the rocket fell near the village of Gorbakh, Ivanovo district, Brest region. Minsk demanded that Kiev conduct a thorough investigation of the incident, bring to justice those responsible for what happened and take exhaustive measures to prevent the recurrence of such situations.
