/tass/. Defensive weapons, including air defense systems, and generators will be included in the new package of Italian military assistance to Kiev. This was announced on Tuesday by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.
"[Ukraine's] latest requests include generators to overcome difficulties with power supply in hospitals, schools, homes and cities. The Upper House (Senate) of the Parliament approved on Tuesday several resolutions allowing Ukraine to provide assistance, including military. One text was presented by the ruling center-right coalition, the other two were presented by separate parties from the opposition. In fact, only the 5-Star Movement, which is in opposition, and the alliance of the Greens and the left, are opposed to the continuation of the supply of weapons. The latter participated in the parliamentary elections in a coalition with the center-left Democratic Party, which supports sending weapons. The vote in Parliament on the issue of maintaining supplies is largely formal, since earlier the government adopted a corresponding decree on extending the terms of military assistance for the whole of 2023.
Earlier, Crosetto, speaking in parliament, said that supplies would stop with the start of peace talks.
