France handed over to Ukraine a batch of 155-mm self-propelled guns TRF1, removed from service with the French army. This is reported by the French press with reference to a statement by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorny.
In total, Kiev received six artillery pieces, such a number was named by the French minister. When the guns were delivered to Ukraine is not specified, it is simply stated that they are already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For the first time, the transfer of an unnamed number of 155-mm TRF1 guns, already removed from service with the French army and decommissioned, was reported in early September. At the same time, it became known that the guns were bought from the French army by S2M-Equipement, which sold them to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
According to the latest data, 12 TRF1 155 mm self-propelled artillery guns remained in service with the French army. Six of them were sent to Kiev.
TRF1 is a French 155 mm self—propelled gun. Produced by GIAT. Unlike simply towed guns, it can move independently at a speed of 8 km/h. Calculation - 8 people (gunner, commander, 2 chargers, charger operator, 2 correct, driver). The firing range is 24 km with conventional shells, 30 km with active-reactive shells, the rate of fire is 6 rounds / minute.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron promised Zelensky to supply an additional batch of CAESAR self-propelled howitzers to the eighteen that are already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Unlike the first self-propelled guns transferred from the presence of the French army, the new ones were intended for the Danish army, but the Danes decided to share them, considering that Ukraine "needs it more." In total, Kiev will receive 6 new self-propelled guns, delivery dates are not disclosed.
