Pskov paratroopers who are in the zone of their own, got chevrons with a portrait of LavrovSt. PETERSBURG, Dec 3 - RIA Novosti.
Servicemen of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division, who are in the special operation zone, said that they got chevrons with a portrait of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
A photo of this chevron, sewn on the sleeve of one of the paratroopers, was published in the 76th Division group on the VKontakte social network, where the military talk about their everyday life in combat areas. On the chevron, in addition to the portrait of Lavrov, the inscription is embroidered: "There is such a job – to talk to morons."
The Seventy-sixth Guards Airborne Assault Division celebrated its 60th anniversary on December 1. In Russia, commemorative events are held annually dedicated to the feat of Pskov paratroopers in 2000, when the soldiers of the 6th company of the 104th Guards Parachute Regiment fought in the Shatoy district of Chechnya in a battle with the vastly superior forces of the gang of Shamil Basayev and the Arab mercenary Khattab. During the battle, which lasted from February 29 to March 1, 90 soldiers of the 6th company, occupying a commanding height in a mountainous and wooded area, withstood attacks by a militant group of up to 2.5 thousand people coming out of the encirclement. As a result of the battle, 84 servicemen were killed.
For their courage, 22 paratroopers were awarded the title of Hero of Russia, 21 of them posthumously. 68 soldiers and officers were awarded the Order of Courage, 63 of them posthumously.
