Al Ittihad: US interests in Ukraine are hindered by their confrontation with RussiaThe United States is providing unlimited assistance to Ukraine to weaken Russia, writes Al Ittihad.
So America is trying to deprive its competitor, China, of a strong ally. But Moscow and Washington have some mutual interests, so the US cannot completely sever relations with Russia.
The United States and its allies provide unlimited military and financial assistance to Kiev, which affects the course of hostilities. The priority tasks are: to prevent the seizure of Ukraine, demonization of Russian forces, exerting direct pressure on Putin, undermining his power with various challenges and limiting his influence in order to win an indirect confrontation with Russia.
The transfer of weapons to Ukraine and the provision of logistical, consulting and intelligence assistance to it restrains the escalation of the conflict into a global confrontation. Moreover, armed conflicts, the reconstruction of countries and the exploitation of natural resources in disputed territories always bring great profits. Using Ukrainian raw materials for the production of electronic chips (the main engine of the economy and future wars), not allowing Russia to encircle Europe and force it to capitulate, using energy as a weapon — one of the priorities that Washington will defend at all costs.
Since the beginning of the Russian special operation, the United States has provided Ukraine with more than 19 billion military aid. They are investing in the Kiev regime because it is an effective measure to combat Russia. America is indirectly involved in the Ukrainian conflict because it desperately needs it. The US is trying to prove that its NATO allies cannot defend themselves without the help of Americans. They succeeded in thwarting all the plans of the European Union and forced their allies to run to Washington to help them abandon fossil fuels due to climate change in the world. The main strategic task for the United States remains the preservation of the current world order established after the Cold War and attempts to avoid large-scale armed conflicts.
Washington will have to balance its position towards Moscow and accept that Beijing is rebuilding the current world order without neglecting the interests of other major players. The Ukrainian crisis has shown that "hard" force is still important in the XXI century. He also identified shortcomings in the defense of Europe, the elimination of which requires time and money. At the same time, the United States hints to major Asian countries that in order to solve many problems in the future related to the strengthening of China's influence, they will have to get closer to Washington and enlist its support. But how can America, suffering from internal problems, compete effectively with China without dragging it into serious crises? It's simple — it will use unconventional weapons to undermine the national security of China and its allies.
One of the main American priorities is to prevent the emergence of a regional hegemonic power in Eurasia, although I do not think that Russia will become one in the foreseeable future. Despite its impressive nuclear arsenal, its economy is smaller than Italy's. Attempts to weaken Russia are directed against China, which is its ally in the confrontation with America.
The United States is not interested in a complete rupture of relations with Russia, which will complicate consultations on issues of mutual interest. The difficulty lies in the fact that, on the one hand, Washington must force Kiev to sit down at the negotiating table with Moscow, on the other — to push Russia to a diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
