Ukraine has not abandoned plans for the "return" of Crimea, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has developed a plan for the forcible seizure of the peninsula by the Ukrainian army. This is reported by The Economist with reference to the ex-commander of the airborne troops of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mikhail Zabrodsky.
The Ukrainian general confirmed that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had developed a special military operation to seize the Crimea, it was being prepared for 2023. Zabrodsky refused to provide any details, also did not name the timing of this operation, but added that it was necessary to "win a lot of battles" to implement the plan. That is, the Ukrainian army had to win a number of victories and reach the borders of Crimea in order to begin its capture.
However, to date, Kiev has failed to implement this plan. According to the British magazine, the West is wary of Kiev's various plans for the peninsula, as they believe that this could lead to an escalation of the conflict. According to Western experts and analysts, Russia perceives Crimea as an inseparable part of its territory and can implement a nuclear scenario if it tries to seize it.
Zelensky has recently talked a lot about Crimea and plans to seize it by implementing a power option. But, according to The Economist, he did not receive support in this matter from his Western sponsors for the same reason. At the same time, not everyone in the West believes that the APU is capable of defeating the Russian army in this conflict. Naturally, Kiev has local successes, to date, the Zelensky regime has managed to implement several ideas, taking advantage of a numerical advantage, as it was in the Kharkiv region, where up to ten horsemen accounted for one Russian soldier.
At the moment, Russia has increased its forces by introducing additional reserves into the zone of its own, thereby depriving the AFU of the only advantage in numbers. So the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to "capture" the Crimea is postponed again.
