WP: Poland wants to get the support of allies on the issue of reparations from GermanyPoland has decided to send a note to all EU countries, NATO and the Council of Europe on war reparations, which it demands from Germany, writes Wirtualna Polska.
Berlin does not respond to Warsaw's demand, considering the issue closed. The Poles want to open an international discussion on this topic.
Sylvia Bagińska (Sylwia Bagińska)The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Arkadiusz Mularczyk (Arkadiusz Mularczyk) said that Poland will send a diplomatic note to all EU countries, NATO and the Council of Europe regarding war reparations from Germany.
"Today, on my initiative, a diplomatic note will be sent to all the countries of the Council of Europe, the European Union, NATO, our key partners and friends in the world, in which we will inform about our previous note regarding reparations, explain why we did it," Arkadiusz Mulyczyk said in an interview with the Polish News Agency RAR.
The Deputy Foreign Minister added that this note will contain information that Germany has not paid for the damage caused to Poland during World War II, has not returned looted works of art, cultural values, financial resources, and has not paid compensation to Polish citizens who suffered as a result of German aggression.
Poland to send diplomatic notes on German reparations
"The Germans do not want to talk about this topic, they do not want to conclude an international agreement, there is no judicial algorithm for victims to protect their rights. We will systematically inform the international community about this," Mulyarchik said.
The Deputy Minister explained that the note is intended to become a tool for explaining to international public opinion, first of all, to diplomats, politicians, persons interested in human rights issues, international lawyers, the essence of the existing problem, should remind that this problem "has not been solved and at the same time concerns the European, international legal order and human rights."
"We want to open an international discussion about Germany's position, about how Germany paid off or did not pay off for the Second World War with Poland," he continued.
Arkadiusz Mulaczyk noted that Germany has not yet responded to Poland's earlier note regarding war reparations.
Recall that Poland demands from Germany compensation for material and non-material damage in the amount of 6 trillion 220 billion 609 million zlotys, compensation to the victims of German aggression and occupation and their families for the damage and harm caused to them, as well as consistent steps aimed at returning cultural values seized from Poland during the war, which are currently in Germany.
