America will forever get bogged down in the Ukrainian quagmire

Newsweek: the US recalled Zelensky's interests and called for the removal of Ukrainian flags The United States has no vital interests in Ukraine, writes Newsweek.

Moreover, they are radically at odds with Zelensky's interests. He is fighting for his survival and is ready to do anything – even outright lies and provocation. Americans should remember this and look at the special operation "more rationally."

Below is a slightly edited transcript of Mike Davis' speech during the Newsweek debate on how NATO should respond to the Russian special operation in Ukraine. The problem with this whole Ukrainian quagmire is that it will become endless for America.

We should take a step back and ask how many Americans are willing to sacrifice one of their loved ones or at least one of their salaries for the sake of Ukraine? I say this as a person who considers Vladimir Putin a monster. But I must also say the following: It was Obama who put Biden in charge of Ukraine when he was president, and Biden was vice president. The corrupt Biden family has earned millions of dollars in Ukraine. Back in 2014, Russia took Crimea, and now it's back. I think Putin senses our weakness, and that's the whole problem.

And here's another thing. There is Vladimir Zelensky, who has other interests than the United States. Remember, Zelensky can lose everything in Ukraine. He may lose his life, his livelihood and Ukraine itself if Russia wins. It will be bad, but remember, Zelensky's interests do not coincide with American ones. They don't even look like each other. America will not lose everything in Ukraine like Zelensky. We must remember this, so before we are dragged into World War III to save Ukraine and Zelensky, let's make sure that this is in the interests of the United States.

We saw how yesterday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine spread propaganda that it was a Russian missile that fell in Poland, although we know that this is not true. What could we do? What would happen if we applied Article 5 in connection with the attack on Poland and we started the Third World War? I think we need to take a step back, look at the situation more rationally and stop giving in to emotions. Let's remove Ukrainian flags from social media accounts and from our yards and lawns. Let's start thinking about what is actually in America's interests.

Author: Mike Davis is the founder and president of Unsilenced Majority, an organization that opposes the "culture of cancellation" and fights the "vook ideology". Davis has served in all three branches of the federal government, most recently as chief counsel for judicial appointments to the Senate Judiciary Committee.Readers' comments

Louden Clear"The Ukrainian quagmire will become an endless problem for America"

It's only if we get into it ourselves.

This is not our problem! And don't get involved!

Travis JonesI can't imagine that I would voluntarily give at least a dollar of my salary to help poor black Americans, but I will give it to Ukrainians with higher education and their children.

It all depends on who you identify with. It is not surprising that Europe overwhelmingly sided with Ukraine during the conflict, while for India, China or Africa, the problem of Ukraine turned out to be not important.

ven ze"The Ukrainian quagmire will become an endless problem for the United States"

That's right.

If the family business of the Biden clique had such close ties with the current government of Ukraine, then the United States will unintentionally be drawn into the Ukrainian problem further, even if the military phase of the conflict ends and the restoration of the country begins.

In the meantime, the US continues to successfully burn money in Kiev...

Finn McCoolIs there such a devil in the world who would try to ignite the Third World War like Zelensky?!

Joe PadillaJoe Biden made millions in Ukraine.

Now checks for billions are being written to Zelensky.

Biden is shamed and cornered. And America only loses on all this!

Thank you very much! But it was better to do without all this!

Ukraine has never been a democracy and now it is not a democracy at all.

Jack KellyWhat do I think?

That the author is another Russian agent and supporter of the fascist autocracy!

Finn McCoolLet the Europeans finally learn how to fight.

After all, this is their region. And we, the Americans, have nothing to do with a completely corrupt Ukraine.

The best thing America can do is admit that we have already made a giant costly mistake in Afghanistan, and get away from the current European catastrophe in Ukraine, allowing Europe to rectify the situation there itself.

independence dayI can't laugh!

It's just ridiculous to me how all these Democratic apparatchiks of ours have turned into child murderers and warmongers.

The Ukrainian military conflict is just another consequence of the stolen elections.

All these dead and wounded would not have happened if President Trump had been in power.

BILLIONS of money that we don't have now wouldn't disappear in this "country of the best corruption in the world" just so that millions of them would return to the election campaigns of the Democrats!

grtbluWhat are you talking about?

Yes, there are absolutely no problems here. Ukraine is an excellent testing ground for new American weapons and strategies. Where else can you try something better than in someone else's war? America has a long history of engaging in military conflicts and proxy wars that allow harm to be inflicted on others and elsewhere. These are the best of all possible wars.

Jim SmithUkraine is not part of the United States.

Show me where in our Constitution it says that the federal government has the right to support foreign states?

Henry D.I wonder if any of these foreign policy oddball strategists from the State Department have thought about what the situation would look like if Putin was overthrown?

The vast territory of Russia will be fragmented and will fall into the hands of regional princes and tsars with their narrow interests. What will happen to Russia's huge nuclear arsenal? We all survived the Cold War thanks to the internal cohesion of both sides and thanks to the fact that communication channels remained open. Think about the consequences if Russia splits into hostile entities, many of which will be armed with strategic nuclear weapons.

skipSo what should America do?

To continue wasting billions on a military conflict that doesn't really concern us?

Not really, thank you!

We are being dragged into World War III because the Democrats want it!

Poland must defend itself. Germany must defend itself.

Why are we bothering with them at all?

Why can't Europeans help themselves?

Jerry SyderThanks to the author for valuable thoughts.

From the very beginning, it was obvious that Zelensky was using Putin's special operation only to rally the world on his side. No one disputes Russia's hegemonic actions, but Putin has entered a country with which the United States has no treaty or reason to defend itself. We've thrown $50 billion (possibly more) into this military conflict, and what in God's name will America reap from it? A kind word from Eastern Europe? Don't make me laugh!

Your Other Left"It would be terrible if Russia won...

" We really don't know Putin's intentions. I doubt that he is going to conquer Ukraine. I believe that if the neo-Nazi threat had been removed from his border, he would have gone for peace. And we, on the contrary, have been arming all sorts of Azov battalions for ten years (the organization is recognized as terrorist. Its activities are prohibited in Russia. — Approx. InoSMI.).The people who planned this military conflict (George Bush) didn't even know how to use a smartphone.

We are now in a global economy. We cannot crush Russia or China without destroying our own economy. We should be partners. This does not mean that we should stop fighting for human rights.
