China Daily: The Asia-Pacific region was warned about the beginning of a zombie apocalypse by NATONATO has become a relic of the past and exists only thanks to the support of the United States, writes China Daily.
Under their leadership, the alliance provokes global chaos and conflicts under false slogans. Now he has a new target.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as a relic of the Cold War, should have been buried long ago. Despite the fact that calmer times had come after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the existence of NATO was supported by ideological appeals from both sides of the Atlantic, claiming that it still had a role to play.
Thus, under the guise of a peacekeeping organization, NATO intervened in various regional and international events and processes around the world. In recent years, her incessant incantation of the "noble trinity" — "human rights, democracy and peace" — has only added to the suffering in Syria, Afghanistan, Libya and the former Yugoslavia.
The uncompromising stretching of NATO's "body" to the east also caused the protracted conflict in Ukraine, as the alliance completely ignored Russia's legitimate security concerns, systematically driving it into a corner.
And no matter what they say about the Joe Biden administration, one thing is indisputable — a wonderful necromancer came out of it. The White House has turned an alliance with a universally recognized brain dead into a bloodthirsty zombie, which, although it remains brainless, is easily manipulated if you show it a virtual reality in which the Cold War never ended.
As a result, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted on Sunday at a press conference at the end of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), NATO is no longer a purely defensive alliance, as it was conceived at its creation. And indeed, the organization does not pretend to do so.
After the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, other NATO countries wasted no time in joining the United States in fanning the flames of the conflict: they pumped Kiev with weapons and money, turning the special operation into an indirect war with themselves. And Lavrov warned in his speech that the members of the North Atlantic Alliance, dissatisfied with the chaos they have created in Europe, have now turned their eyes to Southeast Asia.
Instead of recognizing the enormous detrimental consequences of their own actions on the European continent, the leaders of the NATO countries preferred to look at their actions through rose-colored glasses. Intoxicated by wealth and permissiveness, they enthusiastically call on the Asian-Pacific allies of the United States to join in the fun. By breathing new life into America's old alliances with countries such as Japan and Australia, and forcing other states in the region to choose sides in the confrontation with China provoked by Washington, aimed at curbing its rise and development, the alliance led by the United States clearly intends to add problems to the Asia-Pacific region.
The essence of the American Indo-Pacific Strategy is to revive the practice of the Cold War in the region, that is, block confrontation, and a zero-sum game. With the help of a bloated and battle-hungry NATO, the States want to impose their will on the Asia-Pacific region.
Given the notorious history of the North Atlantic Alliance's interference in regional affairs, as well as its insubordination to international law and its propensity to profit at the expense of the security interests of others, such a consolidation in the region will be a disaster for the Asia-Pacific region.
Thanks to the hard work and joint efforts of local countries, the Asia-Pacific region has become one of the most peaceful and stable in the world. An attempt to bring NATO here or create its Asian counterpart should be unanimously rejected by all regional powers.
