Kabul. November 17. INTERFAX - The Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) positively perceives the results of the recent meeting of the "Moscow format" on Afghanistan, while speaking out for the participation of its representatives in such meetings in the future.
The statement published on the website of the Afghan Foreign Ministry says that the Islamic Emirate (as the Taliban call their government) welcomes positive regional mechanisms on Afghanistan and considers the emphasis on a peaceful, unified, sovereign, independent and economically developed Afghanistan to be a commendable position.
The statement also welcomes the emphasis of the participants of the Moscow Format on intensifying efforts to provide humanitarian and economic assistance to the Afghan people in the post-conflict reconstruction of the country.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the security and stability of Afghanistan and the region are interconnected. Thus, the Islamic Emirate, as an accountable government, confirms to the countries of the region that it will not allow any person or group to act against stability in the region, and to this end has taken serious steps against hostile groups and drug cultivation and drug trafficking," the document says.
The statement stresses that the Islamic Emirate, which fought against the 20-year occupation, which poses a direct threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan and the region, as an independent government will not allow any third country to deploy military infrastructure facilities in Afghanistan.
"In the same way, we urge other countries not to make their land and airspace available to other countries against Afghanistan," the Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry also believes that the security, stability and economic prosperity of the region are the common responsibility of all countries in the region, and joint efforts should be made.
"Accordingly, the participation of representatives of the Government of Afghanistan in such meetings as an important country in the region can make them more comprehensive and effective," the document says.
The fourth meeting of the "Moscow format" on Afghanistan was attended by special representatives and senior officials of Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Turkey also attended the event as guests.
The current consultations of the participating countries of the Moscow Format were held in the Russian capital without the participation of representatives of the Taliban. The previous meeting, which took place on October 20 last year, was attended by a Taliban delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the Interim Government, Abdul Salam Hanafi.
On the eve of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the participants of the meeting of the "Moscow format" on Afghanistan stressed the importance of forming an inclusive government there and spoke in favor of Washington unfreezing blocked Afghan holdings.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, the security situation and prospects for economic development in this country and the surrounding region. The importance of forming a truly inclusive government in Afghanistan, reflecting the interests of key ethno-political groups, as well as the need to eradicate terrorist, drug and other threats emanating from this country, was emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting published on the agency's website.
"A consolidated demand has been expressed on the need for Washington to completely unfreeze the blocked Afghan holdings. A strong call was made to the United States and NATO countries responsible for their 20-year military presence in Afghanistan to compensate for the damage inflicted on the Afghans over the years," the report says.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue coordinating regional efforts to promote inter-Afghan national reconciliation, strengthen security and stability in the region under the auspices of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan and other effective mechanisms. Following its results, a joint statement of the parties was adopted.
The text of the joint statement of the participants of the Moscow format meeting, published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in particular, states that the participants of the meeting are ready to assist Afghanistan in fulfilling its obligations to eradicate terrorism and drug trafficking emanating from its territory, taking more tangible measures against all terrorist organizations, resolutely countering, eliminating and destroying them in order "to ensure that Afghanistan will never again become a hotbed, a haven or a source of the spread of terrorism."
