Farid Ayyar noted the desire of the news agencies that are part of the federation to take a "moderate and compromise" position when covering the Ukrainian crisisABU DHABI, November 17.
/tass/. The work of the world media in covering the events in Ukraine is devoid of objectivity. This opinion was expressed on Thursday in a comment by TASS Secretary General of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) Farid Ayyar.
"The issue [of media coverage of the Ukrainian crisis] is more relevant in politics than in the media sphere. There are countries that oppose or support one side or the other [of the conflict]. I believe that there is no "golden mean" here [in media activity]. Various state and media structures have a penchant for one of the parties. There is currently no objectivity in the work of the world's media," Ayyar said on the sidelines of the 49th FANA General Assembly Conference in Abu Dhabi.
At the same time, he noted the desire of the news agencies that are part of FANA to take a "moderate and compromise" position when covering the Ukrainian crisis.
FANA was established in 1975. The central headquarters is located in Lebanon. Currently, FANA unites the national news agencies of 18 Arab countries, its goal is to strengthen professional relations between these agencies, ensure wider dissemination of news within Arab countries and the replication of Arab news abroad.
