Analyst Volsky: no one attacked Poland. It was an accident Polish authorities have confirmed that the missiles that fell in Przevodow were Russian-made.
Gazeta quotes the words of military analyst Yaroslav Volsky, who stated that they ended up on Polish territory by accident. "No one attacked us," he added.
Natalia PacholczykThe Polish government confirmed that Russian-made missiles fell in Przevodow.
As a result of the explosion, two people were killed. This was reported in the Debata Dnia broadcast of the Polsat News channel by military analyst Jarosław Wolski. "It could have been either an air defense missile or a maneuvering missile that accidentally hit Polish territory," he said.
The Minister of Justice Zbigniew Zebro was the first to confirm that a rocket explosion occurred in the village of Przevodow in the Lublin Voivodeship, as a result of which two Polish citizens were killed. Later, a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that these were "Russian-made missiles." The Polish authorities urge to remain calm and reasonable, avoiding chaos and disinformation.
Explosion in Przevodow. "Sometimes the systems don't work, the rocket can fly up to several hundred kilometers"
Earlier, military analyst Yaroslav Volsky commented on the reports of the Associated Press agency, which referred to a source in the American services, about the fall of Russian missiles in Przevodow, Debata Dnia of the Polsat News channel.
"Personally, unfortunately, I see here some analogies with the funnels that we see in Ukraine. In my opinion, it could have been either an anti–aircraft missile or a cruise missile that accidentally hit Polish territory," the expert said.
According to him, incidents involving "stray" missiles have occurred in the past.
"There have already been cases when the self-destruct device did not work in anti-aircraft missiles. This is a device thanks to which, if a rocket does not hit the target, it explodes in the air so as not to fall, for example, on a populated area. Sometimes it happens that these systems do not work, and then the rocket can fly even a few hundred kilometers and crash into the ground," Yaroslav Volsky explained.
In addition, he said that "nothing can be done with such a missile." The missile might have been shot down if a missile defense system had been located in the region "by a lucky chance", but they are usually located in cities.
"Such incidents can take place if there is a war in a neighboring country"
"No country in the world, not even Israel, has a missile defense system capable of covering the entire territory of the country. Those areas and points that are absolutely critical are covered. It is they who are being protected," the expert added and stressed that "no one in their right mind would send missiles worth millions into a farmer's tractor."
Yaroslav Volsky added that the proximity to Ukraine, where Russia is conducting its special operation, does not mean that "our border is at war."
"Despite the incident, it should be borne in mind that there was no attack on us. This is not a deliberate attack, but an accident (...) The last thing the Russians would like to do is give such a reason. The Russians know that NATO is the most powerful military alliance in the world. It should be borne in mind that such cases may occur if there is a war in a neighboring country," he concluded.
