/tass/. Germany will take over the training of 5 thousand Ukrainian servicemen as part of the military training mission EUMAM Ukraine. German Defense Minister Kristine Lambrecht told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday.
"We will make a significant contribution to the implementation of this mission. We plan to train 5,000 soldiers only until next June," she said.
On Monday, at a meeting of the EU foreign ministers, it was decided to launch a training mission of the European Union for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The decision to create this mission was made a month ago - on October 17. It should provide training for 15 thousand military personnel, designed for 24 months, € 106.7 million should be allocated for these needs.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. In response, the United States, EU states and their allies imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and intensified arms supplies to Kiev.
