Washington expects a slowdown in hostilities with the onset of winterWASHINGTON, November 15.
/tass/. The US authorities are ready to continue to supply military assistance to Ukraine for as long as necessary. This was stated on Monday by a high-ranking Pentagon representative.
According to the press service of the US Defense Department, the official noted that, as expected in Washington, with the onset of winter, hostilities in Ukraine may slow down, but this will not affect Washington's plans to assist Kiev in any way. "We will continue to work with them, together with our international allies and partners, to ensure that they have everything they need to succeed on the battlefield. <...> We are ready to do this for as long as it takes," a Pentagon spokesman said.
According to him, "air defense means remain a priority for Ukrainians." "For us, this continues to be a subject of discussion in terms of how the United States and the international community can continue to support them (the Ukrainian authorities - approx. TASS), when it comes to their needs in the defense sector," the official added.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. After that, the West imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and increased the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev in the amount of tens of billions of dollars.
