The Council of the European Union at the level of Foreign Ministers plans to make a decision on the start of the EU mission to train 15 thousand Ukrainian militaryBUDAPEST, November 14.
/tass/. Hungary intends to prevent the adoption of decisions at the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels that will lead to an escalation of the Ukrainian conflict and damage Europe's energy supply. This was stated on Monday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.
"The goal today is geographically Brussels, and in terms of content - to prevent unjustified decisions that will lead to an escalation of hostilities [in Ukraine] and further jeopardize European energy supply," Siyarto wrote on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
The Council of the European Union at the level of Foreign Ministers plans to make an official decision on Monday on the start of the EU mission to train 15,000 Ukrainian military. The fundamental decision on its creation was made at a meeting of ministers in Luxembourg on October 17. The mission is designed for two years, €106.7 million should be allocated for these purposes. Training of Ukrainian servicemen is planned to be conducted in Poland and Germany.
Hungary has stated from the very beginning that it will not participate in this initiative and does not intend to allocate funds for it. Abstaining from voting, Szijjarto said at the time that he did not consider such a mission a good idea, since it only leads to an escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine. In addition, the Hungarian government has recently strongly opposed the adoption of new EU sanctions against Russia, which may affect the energy sector.
