Yerevan. November 11th. INTERFAX - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev of violating the statement adopted following a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on October 31.
"In his last speech, President Aliyev grossly violated the agreement on the renunciation of the use of force or the threat of its use, which is enshrined in the Sochi trilateral statement. Oddly enough, he accuses Armenia of violating mutually agreed statements," Pashinyan wrote on Twitter.
In the trilateral statement adopted in Sochi, the parties "agreed to refrain from the use of force or the threat of its use, to discuss and resolve all problematic issues solely on the basis of mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders in accordance with the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991."
In addition, Pashinyan said that he will give an online press conference on Friday evening.
Earlier on Friday, Aliyev said at the ninth summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand that "Armenia, in order to mislead the international community, is trying to unreasonably accuse Azerbaijan of military aggression."
"We categorically reject such unfounded accusations," he said, adding that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the border "are currently occupying positions on their native land."
Meanwhile, Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan initiated a large-scale aggression against Armenia on September 13 and occupied new territories.
"Russia's clear position on the need to withdraw Azerbaijani troops to positions as of May 11, 2021 is very important for us," Pashinyan said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on October 31.
On November 8, Aliyev stated that "the events of this year - Operations Farrukh, Retaliation, on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border on September 13-14 - all this should be a lesson for Armenia. We are teaching this lesson and we hope that, finally, they will understand it, take care of their internal affairs and stop rushing to our territory, to Karabakh. Karabakh is our land."
