High-speed data exchange with satellites Specialists of Russian Space Systems have completed the development of a promising series of chips for the space field — these are quadrature modulators that format signals prepared by satellites into various types of modulation.
The novelties will increase the speed of signal transmission from the satellite with a significant increase in the volume of information sent, its quality, and also improve the quality of images transmitted from orbiters. According to the developers, these miniature chips, whose dimensions do not exceed 4 x 5 mm, are unique and will find their application in promising Russian satellites for various purposes. At the same time, the modulators that were used in satellites of previous generations are several times larger in size than the chips of this development.
High-speed data exchange with satellites In addition, the modulators developed in the RCS can function with increased frequencies, which significantly expands the scope of their application.
And according to the leading RKS engineer Roman Alekhanov, the new domestic development is not inferior to similar foreign solutions according to specifications. In the near future, the developers plan to create a single-chip system on which not only a modulator, but also an amplifier with a filter will be placed.
