The Russian army is erecting fortifications on the border of Crimea, the lines of trenches were found on satellite images of the American company Planet Lab. Western experts attribute this to the regrouping of Russian troops and the withdrawal to the left bank of the Dnieper.
The pictures drew the attention of the so-called OSINT specialist Benjamin Pittet, who collects intelligence from open sources. According to him, the Russian army is building new and restoring old lines of defense. As an example, he cites a number of satellite images from Planet Lab showing the digging of trenches in the area of Armyansk and Chongar.

Western analysts suggest that in this way the command of the Russian army is "reinsured" by preparing reserve lines of defense "just in case", because no one can predict how the situation will develop in the future. Not only new trenches are being dug, but also old ones are being restored, which were dug by the AFU units in anticipation of the offensive of Russian troops from the Crimea. Moreover, the work did not begin today, the first pictures are dated early October of this year.
However, fortifications are being built not only on the border of the Kherson region with the Crimea, Russian troops are strengthening the entire left bank of the Dnieper, new fortifications are visible throughout the region. According to the same OSINT specialist, "the Russians are building a fortress."
The regrouping of troops with the withdrawal to the left bank of the Dnieper, the commander of the SVO, General Surovikin, announced on Wednesday, November 9, but the decision on this was made much earlier, judging by the preparatory work.
