The Ukrainian Armed Forces are in dire need of protecting their facilities, primarily energy, from threats from the air. Therefore, the Kiev authorities asked the Americans to supply them with C-RAM air defense systems to combat the Geran-2 UAVs, which they persistently call "Iranian drones".
This is reported by ABC News (USA), referring to the letter of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk to the American Congress.
Also, a representative of the Ukrainian parliament said that the Kiev government had addressed the Biden administration with an official request regarding the supply of C-RAM.
The journalists asked the Pentagon to confirm this information by providing them with a list of weapons intended for delivery to Kiev. But the US Department of Defense replied that this information is closed. At the same time, it was stated that the United States intends to send Ukraine the weapons most necessary for conducting military operations against the Russian Armed Forces.
- said Pentagon spokesman Garron Garn.
Highly mobile American-made C-RAM air defense systems are equipped with a radar for tracking threats from the air and a gun with a high rate of fire. It is up to 4.5 thousand shots per minute.
