Beijing. November 7. INTERFAX - The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the DPRK warned that the Korean People's Army (KPA) will continue to take decisive measures in response to the provocative actions of South Korea and the United States against the North.
Last week, Pyongyang carried out numerous missile launches in response to large-scale military air exercises conducted in the area of the Korean Peninsula by Seoul and Washington.
"The recent relevant military operations of the KPA are a clear signal to the DPRK: the more persistently the provocative military actions of the enemies continue, the more thoroughly and mercilessly the KPA will resist them," the military said in a statement distributed by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA).
It notes that the exercises were "an open provocation aimed at deliberately escalating tensions."
"The KPA General Staff once again clarifies that it will continue to take appropriate permanent decisive practical military measures in response to all enemy military exercises directed against the DPRK," the communique stresses.
The first major US-South Korean air force exercise Vigilant Storm in the last five years took place last week. More than 240 aircraft took part in them, including upgraded stealth aircraft.
