/tass/. The number of the NATO grouping in Eastern and Central Europe has grown 2.5 times, now it is more than 30 thousand people and may increase in the near future. This was stated on Wednesday by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of the joint board with the military department of the Republic of Belarus.
"Formations of the armed forces of non-regional NATO states have been deployed in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as in the Baltic states. New multinational battalion tactical groups are being created in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The number of the group has increased 2.5 times since February 2022 and is more than 30 thousand people, and in the near future it may increase even more," Shoigu said.
The Minister stressed that as a result of the increase in the NATO grouping, "Russia's allies, primarily the fraternal Republic of Belarus, will be under attack."
Shoigu said that under these conditions, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation considers it a priority to ensure the military security of the Union State.
