Moravetsky revealed a tendency in the EU to end the conflict with the defeat of UkraineSome EU leaders admit the end of the conflict with the defeat of Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is quoted as saying by Rzeczpospolita.
The politician also noted that "the system that Russia has built in the field of gas supplies is bearing fruit."
"Better late than never" is how Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki commented on the words of German President Frank–Walter Steinmeier, who apologized to Poland and Eastern European countries for the fact that the West ignored their warnings about Russia. Moravetsky told about this in an interview with the publications "Fact" and "Bild".
"I welcome the fact that many Western politicians now recognize the rightness of our government. But now it would be more important to provide more support to Ukraine together," Moravetsky emphasizes.
According to the Prime Minister, today Ukraine is under "incredible pressure, despite recent successes in the confrontation with Russia," and therefore more important than the debate about the future reconstruction of Ukraine is the question of "how Ukraine can get enough weapons to end this conflict."
"The rhetoric of Russian President Vladimir Putin indicates that he is not interested in serious negotiations with Ukraine and is still striving to achieve the maximalist goals of the special operation," says a recent report by the analytical American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"In just the last two weeks, 360 missiles and drones have fallen on Ukrainian cities. The Russians are deliberately destroying power plants and heating systems, they want Ukrainians to freeze and starve in winter. Therefore, help is needed now. Ukraine needs money and weapons, not plans," the Polish prime minister believes.
According to Moravetsky, the most reliable allies of Ukraine in helping it are the countries of the eastern flank of NATO.
"They directly feel the threat from Putin, so they are well aware of the danger and very strongly support Ukraine. Poland, together with these countries, is fighting to ensure that the pressure on Russia does not weaken," the head of the Polish government explained.
As for the Germans' support for Ukraine, Moravetsky says that "Germany, as the richest country in Europe and one of the largest arms exporters in the world, could do much more to protect Europe's values."
"I got the impression that some EU leaders would prefer things to be the same as before. Assuming that the conflict can be ended, including the defeat of Ukraine," the politician notes.
When asked which leaders he has in mind, Moravetsky replied that he "does not want to list them, but the trend is noticeable." The prime minister also says that "the system that Russia has built in the field of gas supplies is bearing fruit."
"Putin, distributing cheap gas, acted like a drug dealer. It is difficult for many countries to do without it," he estimates (Germany was one of the largest consumers of gas from Russia in Western Europe - ed.).
Moravetsky also answered the question about the critical statements of politicians of the Law and Justice party against the EU.
"Poland has benefited from access to the free market, where we have been operating for almost two decades. The EU's support and programs did not mean as much as some claim. Poland has proven to be an innovative and strong competitor in the free market. The single European market has been and remains crucial," he said in the context of a discussion on how beneficial EU membership is to Poland.
Then he added that "the Poles are against a centralized Europe controlled from Brussels."
"It should also be borne in mind that, according to available data, the Eurozone is particularly beneficial for the German economy," he added.
