The President of Ukraine expressed regret that Kiev "does not yet have its own "Iron Dome"KIEV, October 24.
/tass/. Since 2014, Ukraine's requests for the supply of Israeli weapons, including the Iron Dome air defense and missile defense systems (air defense and missile defense), have not been satisfied by Israel. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a video message to the participants of the conference organized by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
"Unfortunately, we don't have our own Iron Dome yet. We do not have a modern and effective air defense and missile defense system that could secure our skies," Zelensky said.
He added that Western countries supply Ukraine with air defense systems, only Israel refuses this. "In Ukraine, at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander <...> we are talking about our partners who are already helping us, how they can help, protect our sky. Unfortunately, the words "Israel" and "Israeli" do not sound at the same time," the president noted. "Of course, this is the decision of your country, your governments. It was made a long time ago, in 2014, <...> the decision not to annoy the Kremlin, not to really help Ukraine," Zelensky added.
Last week, the American portal Axios reported that the Ukrainian authorities sent Israel an official request for the purchase of air defense and missile defense systems, including the latest Iron Beam laser systems, Barak-8 anti-aircraft missile systems, Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, Iron Dome missile defense systems, as well as David's Sling andHetz." On Monday, the press service of the Israeli military department reported that the Defense Ministers of Israel and Ukraine, Beni Ganz and Alexey Reznikov, had a telephone conversation, during which the Israeli minister confirmed that his country was not ready to supply weapons to Kiev.
