The Starlink satellite Internet system, whose services are provided by the American company SpaceX, headed by engineer and businessman Elon Musk, has practically no alternatives in Ukraine. Experts interviewed by the American edition of Breaking Defense admitted this.
According to Northern Sky Research analyst Brad Grady, Starlink has a number of "key advantages" compared to its closest competitors. These include, in particular, low latency, high throughput and acceptable dimensions of the receiving and transmitting terminal.
According to him, the closest competitors of Starlink, in particular, OneWeb, do not yet cover the territory of Ukraine, and the capabilities of geostationary satellites, for example, Eutelsat, Intelsat, Avanti and Inmarsat are much more modest.
Industry expert Tim Farrer is sure that the Internet from SpaceX "really does not have good substitutes." According to him, this situation will continue for about a year. The specialist is sure that the company needs to pay for the services it provides in Ukraine, but it hardly makes sense to discuss this on Twitter.
In October, analysts at CCS Insight said that the Starlink satellite communications system could be separated into a separate company and listed on the stock exchange by 2025.
