/tass/. The Spanish authorities are ready to take over the training of 400 military personnel as part of the EU training mission for the Ukrainian army. This was reported on Thursday by the newspaper El País.
According to her, the budget of the initiative, under which it is planned to train 15 thousand Ukrainian soldiers in two years and which will be led directly from Brussels, will amount to €106.7 million. As the sources of the publication explain, the figure of 400 military for Spain, as well as 15 thousand for the entire EU, is indicative, since it will depend on whether Kiev can do without them for the training period.
The EU has taken over the coordination, leadership and financing of the training, which some community countries have already begun to carry out independently. So, Spain trained 19 Ukrainian soldiers to control Aspide anti-aircraft missiles, which Madrid decided to transfer to Kiev. It is expected that a new group of military personnel from Ukraine will arrive in the kingdom in November. The Spanish side will also probably have to train Ukrainian soldiers to handle Hawk anti-aircraft missiles. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg reported that the kingdom will transfer four missile launchers to Kiev.
Earlier, the foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries approved the allocation of the next tranche of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of €500 million within the framework of the European Peace Fund. In addition, the Foreign Ministers approved a training mission for the Ukrainian army, which should begin functioning in November on the territory of the EU.
