/tass/. Representatives of the United States and Ukraine signed a statement on Wednesday of their intention to create a joint working group to restore Ukrainian infrastructure and ensure the "critical needs" of Kiev in the conditions of combat operations. This was reported by the press service of the US Department of Commerce.
The joint statement was signed by US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttejaj and Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov.
It is noted that the working group will focus its activities on "the critical needs of Ukraine in wartime conditions and the future restoration of infrastructure after the end of the conflict."
The first meeting of the working group is expected to take place in the coming months. It will discuss "the intensification of joint efforts aimed at facilitating the participation of the US private sector [in reconstruction] and the introduction of the best American and Ukrainian innovations in the reconstruction of Ukraine."
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. The West then imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. Western states have increased arms supplies to Kiev in the amount of billions of dollars, and also announced the allocation of large-scale economic assistance.
