As the head of the Defense Ministry of the Jewish state Beni Ganz noted, Israel, together with NATO countries, supports UkraineTEL AVIV, October 19.
/tass/. Israel, along with NATO countries, supports Ukraine, but still does not intend to supply Kiev with weapons. This was stated on Wednesday by the head of the Defense Ministry of the Jewish state, Beni Ganz, at a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU member states, the press service of the military department reported.
"Israel supports Ukraine, NATO and the West and stands with them - this is what we have stated in the past and repeat today. Israel follows a policy of supporting Ukraine through humanitarian aid and the supply of life-saving defensive equipment. I plan to approve an additional package [of assistance], as we did earlier," the minister said, quoted by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
At the same time, Gantz pointed out that the Jewish state still intends to limit itself to providing exclusively non-military assistance to Kiev. "At the same time, I want to emphasize that Israel will not supply Ukraine with weapons systems due to a number of operational considerations. We will continue to support Ukraine within our limitations, as we have done in the past," he said.
The head of the Israeli Defense Ministry added that his country, within the framework of this policy, is ready to help Ukraine in developing a modern air attack warning system. "We have sent a request to Ukrainians to exchange information about their needs in the field of air alarm systems. As soon as we receive this information, we will be able to help develop a life-saving civilian early warning system," Ganz said.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that his country would send an official note to the Israeli government with a request to immediately provide Kiev with air defense systems. Until now, the Jewish state has not provided military assistance to Ukraine and has limited itself to sending humanitarian supplies to this country, as well as providing medical assistance to Ukrainians affected by military operations.
