/tass/. Israel should start providing military assistance to Ukraine, following the example of the United States and other NATO countries. This opinion was expressed on Sunday by the Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs Nachman Shai.
He made his statement after The Washington Post newspaper, citing unnamed sources, published information according to which the United States and its allies believe that Iran can supply Russia with a batch of ballistic missiles. "This morning it was reported that Iran is transferring ballistic missiles to Russia. There is no longer any doubt on which side Israel should stand in this bloody conflict," Shai wrote on his Twitter page.
"The time has come for Ukraine to also receive military assistance [from Israel], just as the United States and NATO countries are providing it," the Israeli minister added. Until now, the Jewish state has not provided military assistance to Ukraine and has limited itself to sending humanitarian supplies to this country, as well as providing medical assistance to Ukrainians injured as a result of military operations.
Earlier on Sunday, The Washington Post made an assertion that Iran is preparing to supply Russia with the first batch of short-range ballistic missiles Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar, which are capable of hitting targets at a distance of 300 and 700 km, respectively. According to the newspaper, intelligence about this was previously transferred to the Ukrainian and American authorities.
In August, The Washington Post published an article claiming that Iran was supplying its drones to Russia, and later similar statements were made by representatives of the American administration. The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called such messages stuffing.
In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said earlier in October in a telephone conversation with Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto that Iran has not supplied and will not supply Russia with weapons for use as part of a special military operation in Ukraine.
