/tass/. The German Union-90/Green Party overwhelmingly voted at the party congress in Bonn on Saturday in favor of increasing arms supplies to Ukraine.
The delegates rejected a number of proposals criticizing their party's departure from pacifist traditions. According to MEP Serhiy Lagodinsky, Ukrainians have the right to self-defense. According to him, the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty is the responsibility of the Greens as an "anti-colonialist party." The majority of delegates supported the course of the party leadership and members of the federal government from the party, voting against a number of proposed changes to the key foreign policy proposal of the federal executive committee.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany reported that the German authorities in the first three quarters of this year issued permits for the supply of military products to Ukraine in the amount of € 775 million. Among the weapons supplied by Berlin to Kiev are Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, Mars multiple launch rocket systems, Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, and the IRIS-T air defense system. Recently it became known that Germany will send another 50 Dingo armored vehicles and two Mars MLRS to the Ukrainian authorities.
On October 11, Germany handed over to Ukraine the first of the four promised IRIS-T SLM air defense systems.
