/tass/. The long-term cooperation between Ukraine and NATO suggests that the country has already become a de facto member of the alliance. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov.
"I am grateful to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for his support of Ukraine. We have come a long way and de facto joined the alliance," he wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated the need to recognize the fact that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO. However, at the end of September, he signed an application to join the military-political bloc in an accelerated manner. Stoltenberg did not answer a direct question from journalists about whether the alliance is ready to consider such an application. On October 6, EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton said that Kiev could not join NATO in the conditions of military operations on Ukrainian territory.
