After all, the geopolitical importance of the remaining gas systems is increasing - they pass through the territory of Poland, Yamal-Europe - through the territory of Ukraine (two streams), everything was built by Russia at its own expense, as well as the United States, of course, which can now supply energy resources at high prices," Putin said, speaking in Wednesday at the energy forum "Russian Energy Week" in Moscow.
Under these conditions, the Head of state noted, it is now possible to impose liquefied natural gas from the United States on European countries in large volumes, which is clearly inferior in competitiveness to Russian pipeline gas. "And the prices for American LNG are much higher, and it was well known to everyone before, well, and even more so now," Putin added.
According to him, "there are additional risks besides price indicators." "They are that all this is unstable, and any supplies can sail to other regions of the world. And by the way, we have observed this, and quite recently, when American tankers carrying LNG to Europe turned around halfway and changed destinations, because LNG sellers were offered a higher price elsewhere. At the same time, the interests of European buyers were ignored," the president noted.
