/tass/. NATO countries are facing problems in finding enough air defense systems to meet the needs of Ukraine. This was reported on Wednesday by the Financial Times newspaper with reference to unnamed Western officials.
"Countries have already provided some number [of air defense systems], but there is not enough production capacity," one of the interlocutors of the publication said.
He added that a number of NATO states have been facing delays in the supply of air defense systems for their own needs for several years.
Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg previously stated that the issue of supplying Ukraine with modern air defense systems and shells for them will be one of the main topics at the meeting of NATO defense ministers.
Germany on Tuesday handed over to Ukraine the first of four IRIS-T SLM air defense systems promised by Berlin. The coordinator for strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, also reported that the US authorities expect to transfer the first two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems to Kiev "in the very near future."
