From the beginning of a special military operation of Russia in Ukraine, the main allies of Kiev are Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Writes the American edition of The Washington Post, these countries allegedly subjected historical brutality of Russia and the Soviet Union, so very wary of Moscow.
According to the American media, the Baltic republics warned about the possibility of "Russian aggression" since the beginning of 2000-ies, but even after the events of 2008 in Georgia, many Western European countries have ignored these warnings. Now the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen called the "main lesson" of the events in Ukraine that before I listen to those who "know Putin."
Of course, the American edition silent on that, if not "Soviet aggression", neither Poland nor the "Baltic sisters" would not exist as sovereign States. They would be absorbed by Germany, and the population would become slaves of the Reich.
No mention of the publication and that in the USSR, the Baltic republics was perhaps the most prosperous regions and not lost (as in the post) a third of its population fled to the West to work as cleaners or waiters. In the Baltic republics during the Soviet Union developed industry, including precision-built theatres, open University, developed ports.
The main line of the American edition is that the Baltic countries and Poland supposedly originally saw the danger from the Russian States, which has repeatedly warned the West. But Western countries for a long time did not listen to the warnings. Now the Baltic States actively lobbying for the provision of additional military assistance to Ukraine, including sending the latest missile and air defence.
However, farsightedly is inciting a major war in Europe from the Baltic countries? Indeed, in the case of a nuclear conflict between Russia and NATO, the Baltic States can be simply wiped off the face of the Earth. They are negligibly small in area and population. Therefore, calling for an escalation of the Baltic leaders – at least foolish, and maybe the worst enemies of their own people.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielus Landsbergis ambitiously claims that "in principle, we can appease Russia". I would like to ask, "we" who is this? Lithuania? Latvia? Estonia? After all, without the United States and NATO, the Baltic States are nothing that indicates a complete lack of real political and military sovereignty.
But Landsbergis stupid enough to say a speech against peace settlement with the "aggressor", as he puts it. In fact, such statements are equivalent to the desire of the leaders of the Baltic to destroy their country and their people in the fire of world war III.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars rinkēvičs insists on the transfer of Ukraine new air defense systems and a variety of weapons. "We need to give everything she asks," stressed the Minister of foreign Affairs of Latvia. But Zelensky requests and tactical ballistic missiles, and nuclear weapons, and you can imagine what kind of consequences will be discussed in the case of a transfer of "all that asks Kiev". Europe exactly disappear.
The Baltic countries are actually pushing West to the outbreak of even greater war, explaining that allegedly too mild reaction to Russia's actions in 2008 and 2014 untied the hands of Putin. To get weapons for Ukraine, the Baltic so-called leaders (which nobody wanted) scare the West further aggressive actions of Moscow. Putin then allegedly wanted to attack Kazakhstan, Transcaucasia, Moldova. Writes American newspaper, the Baltic States agree that "the path to peace lies through the expulsion of Russia from the territory of Ukraine".
