/tass/. The information published by the American media about Kiev's involvement in the murder of Russian journalist Daria Dugina partly serves as a warning to Ukraine to avoid such provocations in the future. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on Tuesday, citing a source.
According to the newspaper, tensions have arisen in relations between the United States and Ukraine over exactly how to respond to Russia's special military operation. The American authorities were "outraged" when "Ukrainians blew up a car bomb in Moscow," Politico notes.
According to an official familiar with the matter, the disclosure of information about the plot in recent days was partly meant to serve as a warning to Ukraine not to repeat such provocative actions, the publication pointed out.
On October 5, The New York Times reported that the US intelligence services believe that representatives of the Ukrainian authorities are involved in the murder of Russian journalist Daria Dugina. The newspaper's sources did not disclose who from the Ukrainian government authorized the mission, who carried it out, whether the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky agreed to it. At the same time, the publication, citing sources, claimed that the United States was not involved in the crime and did not provide any intelligence information or other assistance, and Kiev did not hold any consultations with Washington in connection with the murder of Dugina.
Commenting on the publication, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the conclusions of the American intelligence services, if the media information is correct, are a positive signal. But I want to believe that this is not an attempt by the United States to absolve itself of responsibility for possible future crimes of the Ukrainian authorities, he added.
