Jeremy Fleming believes that "the conflict continues to remain within the framework in which it was before"LONDON, October 11.
/tass/. Missile strikes by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on infrastructure facilities in Ukraine cannot be considered a transition of the conflict into a new phase. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday by the head of the Center for Government Communications (Electronic Intelligence service) of Great Britain, Jeremy Fleming.
"My opinion on what we saw yesterday: yes, it was an escalation in terms of returning to [tactics of] targeted strikes on national infrastructure, but it was not an escalation in terms of the types of weapons used. Thus, the conflict continues to remain within the framework in which it was previously," Fleming said, speaking at the London-based Royal United Institute for Security and Defense Research.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday at an operational meeting with members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation announced a massive strike on the energy, military and communications facilities of Ukraine, and also warned Kiev that if the Ukrainian authorities try to continue to commit terrorist attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation, the responses will be tough.
