TSAMTO, October 11. The Thai Navy received the FK-3 medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems of Chinese production, as well as the Russian Dzhigit support launchers with Igla-S MANPADS.
As reported by Aagth1.blogspot.com, The Air and Coastal Defense Command (ACDC: Air and Coastal Defense Command) acquired the FK-3 complex under a contract worth $1.970 billion. baht ($63.98 million). It was presented at the Defense & Security 2022 exhibition.
The FK-3 is an export version of the HQ-22 SAM ("Red Banner-22"). The complex, created on the basis of HQ-12, was first demonstrated at the Airshow China 2016 exhibition.
According to the previously stated characteristics, the export FK-3 has a kill zone from 5 to 100 km in an inclined range and a range of heights of hitting targets from 50 m to 27 km in height. This is an all-weather medium-range air defense system designed to destroy airplanes, helicopters, MALE and HALE class UAVs, cruise missiles and other aerodynamic targets.
The complex, consisting of three launchers, is capable of firing 12 missiles at six targets simultaneously. The homing head is a semi–active radar. It has a high degree of protection against interference.
As previously reported by TSAMTO, the Air Defense and Coastal Defense Command of Thailand concluded a contract with the national company Datagate Co Limited worth 245.89 million Thai baht (about $ 7.68 million) for the supply of five mobile short-range anti-aircraft missile systems (support launchers "Dzhigit") with MANPADS "Igla-S" based on an armored truck Thairung TR Transformer 4x4 family in January 2021.
The contract was concluded based on the results of the tender. Datagate won, ahead of China Vanguard Industry Corporation (CVIC), which also took part in the competition, which offered the QW-18 MANPADS, previously adopted by the Thai Marine Corps.
The support-launcher "Dzhigit" is designed for placement, targeting and single or multiple launch of two missiles from the Igla or Igla-S portable anti-aircraft missile systems by one anti-aircraft gunner.
