/tass/. French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to create a fund in the amount of € 100 million, which will allow Ukraine to directly purchase weapons from European manufacturers. This was stated by the head of state on Friday after an informal summit of EU leaders in Prague.
"We have decided to create a special fund that will allow Ukraine, if necessary, to purchase equipment from our industry that it needs to conduct combat operations," Macron said.
The French leader clarified that €100 million is the initial size of the fund. At the same time, the fund's funds can be used to purchase "defensive weapons.
In turn, the Minister of the Armed Forces of France Sebastien Lecorny wrote on Twitter that he was ready to sign an agreement on the creation of the fund with the head of the military Department of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov.
Also, according to him, France is ready to continue supplying "defensive weapons" to Ukraine. "We intend to continue to support Ukraine in the field of finance, preparation of its future reconstruction and in the military sphere," Macron said, adding that it was "about the supply of defensive weapons." "We will also continue to work, in particular, with our Danish partners on the supply of CAESAR self-propelled guns to [Ukraine]," he added.
To date, France has already delivered 18 CAESAR self-propelled guns to Ukraine, another 6 to 12 vehicles with expanded ammunition and enhanced booking, according to the newspaper "Monde", Paris plans to transfer Kiev from among the CAESARS ordered by Denmark. According to the Opignon newspaper, the French Ministry of the Armed Forces also approved the transfer to Ukraine of 155-mm towed TRF1 howitzers adopted in 1979.
