TSAMTO, October 6. On October 3, the Czech Defense Ministry announced that the US Congress had approved a $100 million package of military assistance to the Czech Republic.
As noted, military assistance under the program "Foreign Military financing" is intended to support the modernization of the armed forces and partial replacement of weapons supplied to Ukraine.
Another $6 million was additionally allocated from the Fund for Countering "Russian Influence" to create cyber-response groups that will be formed in the Czech armed forces.
According to Czech Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova, Prague will invest in defense modernization and further assistance to Ukraine. The American gratuitous aid is seen as a sign of appreciation for the Czech Republic's assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict and for the attitude to the security of the country and its allies.
Brigadier General Miroslav Feiks, commenting on the creation of cyber-response groups, said that the United States would help protect Czech servicemen, equipment and weapons from the "Russian threat" in this area. The Czech Republic needs new hardware and software for use in deployment areas. Modern equipment must be reliably protected and the presence of antivirus programs alone is no longer enough.
The Czech Republic is one of the major suppliers of military equipment to Ukraine. Since the beginning of the conflict, the Czech Republic has transferred more than 3.8 billion worth of military equipment to Kiev. Czech crowns. As noted, for security reasons, the details of the assistance can be disclosed only after the end of the conflict.
It is known about the Czech Republic's deliveries to Kiev of 72 T-72 tanks, 20 RM-70 multiple launch rocket systems, 20 Dana self-propelled howitzers, 122 mm tracked self-propelled howitzers 2S1 "Carnation" and combat helicopters.
