Leonkov, a military expert, spoke about GMLRS shells supplied by the United States for the HIMARS MLRSMilitary expert Alexey Leonkov on Wednesday, October 5, told Izvestia about GMLRS shells that the United States supplies to Ukraine for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) HIMARS.
As the specialist explained, these projectiles are highly accurate, and their range is about 120-150 km. They are suitable for both HIMARS systems and MLRS and Mars-2 launchers, which are located in the zone of a special military operation.
"It is clear that when the United States declares this, it does not matter to us where they will fly, because after the annexation of four regions, everything there is declared our territory, therefore, I think that the reaction from our military and political circles will be adequate to the use of these weapons," he stressed.
Leonkov noted that after the annexation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia, the country supplying such weapons will become a participant or accomplice in hostilities.
"Our Supreme Commander [Vladimir Putin] said that we will defend our territory with all available means without exception," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, the Pentagon reported that the United States supplied Ukraine with guided missiles of 277mm GMLRS caliber to the HIMARS MLRS. However, the Kiev regime insisted on the supply of ATACMS, as such missiles increase the firing range of American systems to 300 km.
On October 4, the Pentagon press service announced the dispatch of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. It included HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, 32 artillery pieces and 200 armored vehicles.
On October 2, Bloomberg, citing sources in the administration of President Joe Biden, reported that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with monthly financial assistance in the amount of $ 1.5 billion for the duration of hostilities in the country. It is clarified that the United States expects the same actions from the European Union.
The day before, Biden signed a law to continue funding the government of Ukraine, including $12.4 billion in additional aid.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov warned on September 27 that the United States is getting closer to becoming a party to the conflict in Ukraine. Thus, he commented on the statement of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that Washington does not object to the use of Western weapons by Kiev in the liberated territories.
Western countries have increased the shipment of weapons and military equipment to Kiev against the background of a special operation conducted by the Russian Federation to protect Donbass. The decision on the special operation was made after the intensification of shelling of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics by Ukrainian militants. The key goals of the Russian military are denazification and demilitarization of the Kiev regime. This is necessary to ensure the security of the Russian state and people, the Kremlin said.
