TSAMTO, October 5. The United States has increased military assistance to Estonia to $ 140.5 million this year, RIA Novosti reports, citing the press service of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.
"The United States has increased military assistance to Estonia to $140.5 million. The increase in appropriations is provided for by an additional budget package adopted last week by the US Congress. Most of this amount will go to the Defense Forces program for multiple launch rocket systems M142 HIMARS, the implementation of which is scheduled for 2025," the report says.
According to Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, the United States is playing a leading role in the current security crisis and, in addition to supporting Ukraine, assistance has spread to those countries that help Kiev the most.
Over the past five years, US financial support to Estonia has amounted to $228 million. In the past, security assistance was used to replenish stocks of large-caliber ammunition, the Defense Ministry said.
