The World Conservative Conference (CPAC) has withdrawn a pro-Russian tweet, although many Republicans in the United States support PutinThe Ukrainian crisis has split American society, writes WP.

A significant part of it, primarily centered around the Republican Party, is against "gifts" to Kiev and Washington's participation in the conflict. Readers' comments indicate the depth of the problem.

The well-known international political organization SRAS (World Conference of Conservative Action) group condemned the "presentation of gifts to Ukraine", accepting Putin's point of view on the "territories occupied by Ukraine".Prominent US Republicans oppose American support for Ukraine, despite Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons.

The World Conservative Action Conference on Friday last week published a tweet (but it was deleted a few hours later) calling on Democrats to "stop giving gifts to Ukraine." The text on it was placed on a background with a developing Russian flag. The tweet also mentioned "territories occupied by Ukraine," which apparently legitimizes the claims of Russian President Vladimir Putin to annex some Ukrainian regions on the basis of referendums, which the United States and its allies consider illegal.

CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp said on Saturday that the tweet was not going through the usual approval process, as Schlapp himself was flying to a conference in Australia. "Due to the fact that I traveled to a distant time zone, this text was not approved in accordance with the usual procedure," he wrote in the message.

In the aforementioned statement, CPAC expressed not only support for Ukraine, but also its previous position against providing assistance to it.

"We must stand up to Putin, but American taxpayers should not shoulder the burden of most of these costs," the SRAS said in a statement.

In recent years, CPAC has constantly flirted with pro-Putin views, including hosting pro-Russian Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at a conference in Dallas in August this year.

CPAC is not the only conservative American organization that opposes aid to Ukraine, despite the Russian–led SVO. Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson directly accused the United States of organizing sabotage on the Russian gas pipeline, which led to a gas leak. Former President Donald Trump also posted a message on his social platform Truth Social, in which he offered himself as a negotiator on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

At a rally in support of Trump in Michigan last Saturday, October 1, a member of the House of Representatives, Marjorie Taylor Green (Republican from Georgia), reiterated her disagreement with helping Ukraine and demanded that its president, Vladimir Zelensky, begin negotiations on a peaceful settlement with Russia.

"We have so many problems at home in America that I can't even think about directing our money to finance a proxy war with Russia," she said in an interview. — Zelensky does not run the government of the United States. He is not our president, but for some reason Joe Biden bends under him every time... The American people don't care about this military conflict happening so far away from us."

At a rally in Michigan, Trump claimed that he could have prevented the conflict in Ukraine.

"This military conflict would never have happened if I was president, but I wasn't," Trump said.

Many Republicans have followed Trump's lead in statements about Putin, whose condemnation Trump has avoided. At the same time, he sided with his special services, who doubt Russia's interference in the 2016 elections. Relations with Ukraine received an obvious partisan tinge during Trump's first "democratic" impeachment, after he tried to use American aid to Ukraine to force Zelensky to announce an investigation into the business deals of Biden and his son Hunter in that country.

Babeinthe WoodsUkraine is one of the most corrupt states in Europe.

Why should we support the conflict in Ukraine if the United States has no vital interests there? Henry Kissinger also advised Kiev to leave the Donbass, "why fight for the lands occupied by the Russians at all?"

Thaddeus7Putin and the MAGA Republicans have a lot in common, which is why they have this mutual celebration of love.

If the MAGA Republicans take control of our country, then our democracy will come to an end. Vote as if your life depends on it, because that's the way it is.

dcmddemThe Republicans are a pro—Putin group working on the collapse of America!

They support the lies about the last election and the attack on Capitol Hill on January 6.

RebekiTrump is right when he says that if he were president, there would be no military conflict in Ukraine...

because he would have pulled the US out of NATO and handed Putin the "keys to Ukraine."

Ah, I forgot! Russia has much more money than Ukraine!

Kubla_KhanAnd I must say, Putin knows how to make his money work well in America!

Sonora NomadI have a different view of the Ukrainian conflict.

Putin thought that after a four-year train wreck ruled by Trump, Donald had left the US so divided, devastated internationally and paralyzed internally that the US would not be able to respond effectively to his operation in Ukraine.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Europe if Putin prevails in Ukraine. It seems to me that it is better for Europe to rise on its own, especially if Republicans take the House of Representatives and the Senate in November.

Thomas McManusIt's just that Putin, like Trump, wants to make "Russia great again," following the example of MAGA.

That's why Trump loves Putin so much!
