LNR officer Hetmansky: The APU is using a new type of missiles for the HIMARS system for strikesAlexey Hetmansky, an officer of the representative office of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) in the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC), said on October 3 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began shelling the region with new types of multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) HIMARS.
On Monday night, the Ukrainian military attacked Starobilsk from HIMARS. A kindergarten, three residential buildings and a stadium were damaged.
"This is the second settlement where they have worked out this type of missiles. This rocket, the M30, is produced from the M142 HIMARS installation. Before that, the LPR representative office in the JCCC recorded the use of this type of missiles in the city of Bryanka the other day, and today we are seeing the same picture in the city of Starobilsk," Hetmansky said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
He specified that the new rockets are filled with tungsten balls of small diameter. Such types of missiles, according to the officer, are designed to destroy enemy manpower.
On September 27, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 12 missiles from HIMARS at the settlement of Bryanka in the LPR. Three people were killed and another was injured.
According to the latest data of the republic in the JCCC, since February 17, the AFU has released more than 10 thousand ammunition in the direction of the LPR, including 335 missiles from HIMARS.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
