October 2. INTERFAX - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on the international community to condemn the war crime committed by Azerbaijani servicemen and bring those responsible to justice.
"Another horrifying video has spread in social networks, in which Azerbaijani soldiers arbitrarily shoot a group of Armenian prisoners of war on the sovereign territory of Armenia. The international community should strongly condemn this war crime and take appropriate measures to stop Azerbaijan's aggression. Armenia will use all available international mechanisms to ensure the investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice," Pashinyan wrote on his microblog.
He noted that such acts of violence "should have consequences for the aggressor."
The office of the Armenian representative to the ECHR told reporters that relevant statements will be sent to international courts in connection with the incident.
The EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar commented on the video. "Another terrible video has appeared, in which Armenian prisoners of war are probably executed. If the authenticity of the video is proven, then this is a war crime that needs to be investigated and the perpetrators punished," he wrote on his microblog.
At the same time, the Armenian Defense Ministry does not doubt the authenticity of the video, noting, however, that at the moment there is no specific information about the location and time of the shooting.
"The relevant authorities are studying the video, but there is no doubt about the authenticity of the video, and this is a handwriting characteristic of the Azerbaijani armed forces," the Defense Ministry told reporters.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that Yerevan demands "a clear assessment of the egregious war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces."
"We will seek to bring to justice the perpetrators and organizers of the above crimes, including through the application of international sanctions. In this context, it is necessary to conduct a proper international investigation. At the same time, the international community is obliged to increase pressure on Azerbaijan for the immediate repatriation of all Armenian prisoners of war and civilians illegally detained in Azerbaijan, to clarify the fate of forcibly disappeared and missing persons," the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
The Military Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan has launched an investigation into the fact that video footage of illegal actions against the Armenian military attributed to Azerbaijani servicemen was distributed on social networks, the Prosecutor General's Office of the republic reported on Sunday.
They noted that video footage was published on some pages in social networks, where Azerbaijani servicemen allegedly committed illegal actions against members of Armenian armed formations, shot at detained saboteurs.
"The Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan is fully and comprehensively investigating the authenticity of the videos of this category, as well as the time and place of shooting, the identities of those depicted in the video, as well as all other details important for establishing the objective truth," the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan said in a statement.
