/tass/. The heads of Central and Eastern European countries have called for a significant increase in military assistance to Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made on Sunday by the presidents of the Baltic states, as well as Poland, Romania, Northern Macedonia, Slovakia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda announced this on his Twitter page.
"We support Ukraine <...>, demand that Russia immediately withdraw its troops from the occupied territories, and call on all allies to significantly increase military assistance to Ukraine," the statement said.
The leaders of the Central and Eastern European states stressed that they would never recognize Russia's attempts to alienate any Ukrainian territory and support Kiev's bid to join the North Atlantic Alliance. "We firmly support the decision of the Bucharest NATO Summit of 2008 regarding the future membership of Ukraine," the document says.
