Dubai. October 2. INTERFAX - The ground forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) of Iran fired at Iraqi Kurdistan again with artillery and rockets last night, Tasnim reported on Sunday.
The IRGC carried out similar strikes on September 24, 26 and 28. Tasnim recalls that the Iranian military has stepped up actions against a number of groups, including the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, after they became more active in provoking unrest in Iranian border towns populated by Kurds and carrying out armed attacks, taking advantage of protests in Iran.
Earlier this week, IRGC Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour reported that the IRGC used 73 ballistic missiles and dozens of drones packed with explosives against enemy positions in Iraqi Kurdistan. The general noted that the strikes were carried out on objects at once at 42 points, some of which were at least 400 km apart from each other, but the targets were successfully hit.
Last Wednesday, the US President's national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the US condemns Iran's airstrikes on Iraqi Kurdistan and will continue to impose sanctions against Tehran.
