Ukrainian formations tried to break through the defense of Russian troops over the weekendThe armed forces of the Russian Federation last weekend repulsed the offensive of Ukrainian armed formations in the Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog direction.
On Sunday, September 18, the VFU tried to attack at once in three areas — in the area of Mirolyubovka, Malaya Seideminukha and Belogorka, Kherson region. A day earlier, they unsuccessfully tried to take Pravdino. The units of the Russian armed forces successfully repelled all attacks, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. Many strikes are being carried out across the entire front line of the VFU in order to find weak points in our defense, military experts say.

At the weekend, the VFU launched a series of attacks in the Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog direction. On Sunday, September 18, the enemy, with the forces of three company tactical groups of the 60th Infantry and 57th Motorized Infantry brigades, supported by six tanks, made unsuccessful attempts to attack in the areas of Mirolyubovka, Malaya Seideminukha and Belogorka in the Kherson region, the Russian military department reported.
"All the attacks were successfully repelled by the units of the Russian armed forces," said the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
In the area of Nikolaev, the Russian Aerospace Forces with high-precision weapons struck the personnel and military equipment of the units of the 28th mechanized and 79th airborne assault brigades of the VFU. During the day of hostilities in this direction, the losses of Ukrainian troops amounted to over 180 servicemen, two tanks, seven armored combat vehicles, three guns and ten cars. Units of the 3rd separate Territorial Defense Battalion in the area of Mirolyubovka, Kherson region, were also hit.

Operational-tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery strikes hit the control and coordination point of missile strikes of the Ukrainian group "Primorye" in the Shurino area of the Mykolaiv region.
A day earlier, in the area of the settlement of Pravdino, Kherson region, the enemy, with the forces of two companies, supported by nine tanks and 16 armored combat vehicles of the 28th mechanized Brigade, made an unsuccessful attempt to attack.
"During the fighting, the Russian armed forces destroyed more than 120 Ukrainian servicemen, seven tanks and 13 infantry fighting vehicles in a few hours," Igor Konashenkov said.
In addition, as a result of high-precision strikes, the losses of the 46th airmobile Brigade in the Bereznegovatoye and Velikoye Artakovo districts of the Mykolaiv region, the 24th mechanized brigade in the Bezymennoye district of the Kherson region amounted to more than 140 Ukrainian servicemen killed and wounded, five tanks and 14 units of military equipment.
Over the weekend, Russia's air defense shot down 16 unmanned aerial vehicles and 33 HIMARS and Alder MLRS shells in the area of Kherson and Novaya Kakhovka.
— The "general offensive" launched by Ukrainians in the Kherson region at the end of August failed, — military expert Dmitry Boltenkov said in an interview with Izvestia. — They failed to cut the positions and push our troops back to the Dnieper. Therefore, the Kiev leadership has changed its strategy — now they are trying to deliver many small strikes along the entire front line. In this way, they are probing our defense and trying to find weaknesses in it. The Ukrainian strategic reserves that have arrived in the Mykolaiv region on equipment received from the West have not yet been completely depleted, which allows them to continue attacks, although they cost them dearly.

— Therefore, the loss of even one small village between Kherson and Nikolaev can be dangerous, — he believes. — Here the defense should be especially tough. Finish the "Academy"
Over the weekend, Russian troops continued intensive strikes on Ukraine's military infrastructure. As a result of high-precision strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces, the losses of the 46th Airmobile and 24th mechanized brigades amounted to five tanks, 14 units of military equipment and more than 140 killed and wounded. In addition, more than 50 nationalists and more than ten units of special military equipment and vehicles were destroyed by strikes on the temporary deployment points of the Kraken national formation unit, the 92nd mechanized and 81st airmobile brigades.
The Defense Ministry also reported that more than 230 nationalists, ten tanks and 23 armored fighting vehicles were eliminated by strikes on the combat positions of the 58th, 93rd motorized infantry and 53rd mechanized brigades.
Concentrated fire strikes defeated units of the 65th mechanized brigade of the VFU. The enemy's losses amounted to up to 100 soldiers, as well as more than ten pieces of military equipment. As a result of the strikes on the positions of the 54th, 93rd mechanized brigades and the 10th mountain Assault Brigade, losses amounted to more than 110 servicemen and 20 pieces of military equipment.

Also, the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the places of concentration of troops of the 14th mechanized Brigade, the 63rd mechanized brigade and the 3rd separate Theroborona battalion. More than 150 Ukrainian servicemen and 17 units of armored and special military equipment were destroyed.
In addition, the 155-mm M777 howitzer manufactured by the United States, the guidance radar of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, as well as the air defense radar station were destroyed.
During the fighting in the Zaitsevo area in the DPR, the 24th battalion of the Aidar national formation of the 53rd mechanized Brigade lost more than 50% of its personnel. The command has withdrawn the remnants of the unit in the Hours of the Yar in the DPR, the Defense Ministry said.
Operational-tactical, army aviation, missile troops and artillery in two days hit eight control points, the bases of foreign mercenaries of the American PMCs "Academy" and the national formation "Kraken", 100 artillery units, four warehouses of rocket and artillery weapons and ammunition, 244 areas of concentration of troops. In addition, an ammunition depot of the 14th mechanized brigade, which contained more than 7,500 shells for western artillery systems, as well as an ammunition depot of the 128th mountain assault brigade in the Dolinka area of the Zaporozhye region, was destroyed in the Kharkiv region.
Also on September 17, two artillery attacks were recorded on the dacha village "Volna" and a thermal power substation located next to the Zaporozhye NPP. Ukrainian troops fired 15 artillery shells from the Dnipropetrovsk region. The artillery units of the VFU were suppressed by return fire.
"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 293 aircraft, 155 helicopters, 1981 unmanned aerial vehicles, 375 anti—aircraft missile systems, 5022 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 837 multiple rocket launchers, 3397 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 5680 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed," he listed Igor Konashenkov.

The Russian Defense Ministry told about the soldiers and officers who showed courage and dedication during the special operation.
The calculation of senior sergeant Vladislav Likhomanov helped to hold the line of defense when the VFU attacked the positions of our servicemen. Vladislav's subordinates repulsed two enemy attacks. Likhomanov personally destroyed three tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and up to 30 nationalists, depriving the militants of the opportunity to continue the offensive. After that, the senior sergeant changed positions and led the personnel to a safe area.
The unit of Junior Sergeant Vladimir Tarusov held back the occupied positions. Ukrainian nationalists, trying to break through the defense, went on the attack. During the battle, Tarusov destroyed three units of enemy armored vehicles and repelled the infantry offensive with dense fire, as a result of which the militants retreated. After that, the junior sergeant changed positions and brought personnel and military equipment to a safe area, preventing losses among the servicemen.
The nationalists tried to break through the defensive lines of the Russian troops in order to regain the positions lost during the battle. Having settled down in combat formations, Sergeant Vladimir Borozenets used a grenade launcher to destroy the militants breaking through. During the day, his group repulsed several enemy attacks. As a result, the enemy retreated. When the fire temporarily stopped, Sergeant Borozentsa's unit changed positions, which allowed avoiding casualties among the military, the Defense Ministry said.
As a result of the nationalists' shelling, the power supply equipment was damaged at the unit's stronghold. Private Dmitry Polupanov promptly restored the power grid and continued to fight, destroying the enemy squad. When one of the combat vehicles caught fire from the shells, Dmitry rushed to help, pulled out two wounded, moved them to shelter and provided first aid.

"Thanks to the coordinated actions of the unit in which Private Polupanov is fighting, the attack of superior enemy forces was successfully repelled, large losses in manpower allowed the Russian units to change their position to a more advantageous one, retaining personnel and weapons to continue the battle," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The battery of Captain Dmitry Lebedev was fighting with the enemy. The nationalists launched a counteroffensive. Thanks to accurate calculations and timely fire, Dmitry's subordinates did not allow the militants to take advantage of the terrain and thwarted the counteroffensive. When the enemy's fire stopped, the captain changed positions and brought the personnel to a safe area, where he continued to perform combat missions.
During the enemy's offensive, Lieutenant Dmitry Gvozdev discovered a nationalist stronghold in disguise. Thanks to his courage and accurate targeting, a platoon stronghold, two mortar squads and more than 60 nationalists and mercenaries were destroyed. Having suffered losses, the enemy retreated.
Defending the designated area, Dmytro Tratsenko's unit engaged in battle with Ukrainian nationalists. More than three firing positions and more than 20 nationalists were destroyed. Having discovered the advance of the enemy's reserves in a timely manner, Dmitry organized interaction with the artillery unit. As a result, enemy reinforcements were pushed back from the line of defense with heavy losses.
The platoon of Senior Lieutenant Evgeny Kuznetsov held the height when the nationalists tried to recapture it. During the day, Kuznetsov's platoon successfully restrained the onslaught of militants. 11 nationalists and three infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed. The enemy retreated, unable to dislodge our servicemen from the occupied height.
