Tallinn. September 17. INTERFAX - The head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that more and more new modern weapons are coming to Ukraine.
"The Alliance as a whole has agreed to provide Ukraine with non-lethal assistance, but NATO countries independently provide Ukraine with military assistance, including arms supplies. Thus, over time, more and more new weapons are coming to Ukraine," he told reporters at a conference of the commanders of the alliance's armed forces in Tallinn on Saturday.
According to the admiral, the meeting addressed the issue of support for Ukraine, as well as issues of improving the effectiveness of the defense of the eastern wing of NATO.
Bauer said that for the first time Finland and Sweden were invited to the conference, which, although not members of the union, "are on the path of membership in NATO."
On September 16-18, a conference of the committee, which includes the commanders of the armed forces of all the countries of the alliance, is being held in Tallinn under the chairmanship of Bauer.
The commanders are considering the strategic objectives of the alliance, the implementation of the decisions of the Madrid NATO Summit on deterrence and defense.
