/tass/. The United States and Turkey support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and also intend to intensify bilateral partnership in the field of defense. This is stated in the joint statement of the American and Turkish governments adopted following the results of the third round of the strategic dialogue of the parties held on Thursday. The talks were held in Washington under the chairmanship of First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Sedat Onal.

"The delegations reiterated their unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and also considered ways to strengthen NATO coordination," the document says, the text of which was distributed by the press service of the US State Department. As it emphasizes, "the parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace and stability and further deepening and strengthening the long-standing partnership between the United States and Turkey in the field of defense."

In addition, Washington and Ankara confirmed at the consultations the existence of "strong cooperation" between them "as partners and allies in NATO." A "meaningful dialogue on strategic global as well as regional issues and areas of bilateral cooperation" took place.

According to the information stated in the statement, the parties "welcomed the recent growth" of trade turnover between Turkey and the United States, signaled their desire to seek further expansion of "economic cooperation in all possible sectors." "They (delegations - approx. TASS) also stressed that the United States and Turkey stand shoulder to shoulder for the sake of supporting global health, food and energy security," the document says. According to its authors, the parties declared their intention to work together to ensure the supply of energy resources to world markets.

"The United States welcomed Turkey's mediation efforts to conclude the Istanbul grain deal aimed at the safe export of Ukrainian agricultural products through the Black Sea. The delegations explored possible ways of cooperation in various parts of the globe, including the Middle East and Africa, and stressed the importance of ensuring peace in the South Caucasus (Transcaucasia - approx. TASS)," the statement reads.
